International Council of Nurses announces new theme for International Nurses Day 2018

Geneva Switzerland – 16 November 2017 – The International Council of Nurses (ICN) is pleased to unveil the theme it has chosen for the 2018 International Nurses Day (IND): Health is a human right. With this strong statement, ICN seeks to raise awareness of the fact that access to health is not a given in every part of the world, and that nurses are key to achieving this access.

Despite the many treaties and conventions promoting the right to health, pervasive inequalities still constitute barriers to individuals’ health and the 2018 edition of the IND resources showcases the instances in which the nursing profession has been critical to delivering health to all populations.

Two posters are being released along with the IND 2018 logo which can all be viewed and downloaded on ICN’s website here. A social media campaign banner is also available for downloading and printing here. Send us your photos holding the banner and show your support to nurses and universal health coverage with the hashtags #VoiceToLead and #IND2018.
